Welcome to Room 11!

Grade Academic Goals

The academic goals include the following: 

In social studies, 5th graders will study United States History. 

In math, students will master basic facts and will demonstrate an understanding of computation and the ability to solve age-appropriate word problems.  All will study beginning algebra and geometry. 

In language arts, students will read and learn word analysis skills, give speeches, study whole language and phonics approaches to reading and spelling, will practice all basic writing forms, and active listening.

In science, students will study systems of living things; weather and space; and energy.  They will also participate in the Science Fair, utilizing the scientific method.
 

School Supplies

All students in the 5th grade will need to bring two portfolio folders to organize their classwork. (Portfolios are folders with pockets).

Pens and pencils from home need to be labeled with the student’s name on them.  No gel pens are to be used for school work.
