Welcome toSpecial Education and RSP!

We’re #1!

Reading News

As always, a major goal is reaching reading fluency and comprehension at grade level.  A large portion of our daily language arts time will be dedicated to that.  We will practice corrected reading and comprehension.  Initially the students will be diagnosed for retention of concepts learned last year and reinforcing those concepts for fluency.  Students will be learning definitions of new vocabulary words, practicing spelling of common sight and phonetic words, reviewing parts of speech, and proofreading.

Math News

The first months our students will be working on numerous concepts:  estimation, rounding numbers to thousands, and adding decimals.  Your child is capable of learning many and perhaps all things.  Now is the time for us to teaching them that concept.

Homework Policy FLASH!

Homework will be assigned every day and return completed the next day.  The homework will consist of the following:
- work not completed in class.
- reviewing a concept already learned.
- reviewing spelling words.

Students not returning with homework will be given time to complete the work during recess.  This practice will prepare the students for their upper grades.  As in last year’s homework, this year’s should be non-taxing and easily completed by your student while in daycare (or within a few minutes of arriving home)/

This plan is intended to make homework an enjoyable and profitable experience for the parent, child, and teacher.  It will also give you, the parent, a chance to see what your child is learning and allow you to be a part of the learning process.  Toward this end, I will need your support.

I am looking forward to a great year!

Ms. Moore
