From the Principal’s desk
As the Principal at College Heights, I am very proud to inform you that the teachers and support staff has been focused on assisting your child throughout the year. College Heights has implemented many systemic reform changes throughout the year to better serve your children. The staff has attended training in English Language Development strategies, Houghton Mifflin program implementation, and Standards Plus successful training for Language Arts and Math.
The reform changes and the training have culminated into the College Heights 2003-2006 Strategic Plan. The plan will be the guide to better focus the whole team in providing a more effective and efficient educational plan for your child. Teachers are teaching, reflecting, assessing, and using data to make informed decisions on what each child needs. Teachers are providing small group instruction through the universal access time block of the Language Arts portion.
I need parent involvement in the education of our youth. Parents play a key component in the success of their students. Parents need to make sure that children rest each night, arrive to school on time each day (daily attendance is very important) and set aside study time. Parents need to assist with homework, show children good study habits, read with their child each night, and finally, parents need to have a positive relationship with their child’s teacher. These factors will further your child’s success throughout his/her education.
College Heights offers students a well-planned, well-focused, and well-rounded educational program, emphasizing the core curriculum of reading, writing, spelling, and arithmetic.
