Office Teacher's Letter

Dear Parents and Students,
In our effort to sustain a positive school culture we have added incentive programs to encourage all of our students to demonstrate good behavior. The programs are: Caught Being Good, Perfect Attendance and No Referral Ice Cream Party.
The goal of the Caught Being good Program is to encourage and reward students for their good behavior at Longfellow. Teachers and Staff can issue Caught Being Good (CBG) tickets for any type of good behavior on the playground, cafeteria, or in the classroom. The students are to put their ticket into their teacher’s CBG jar or box. On Fridays the teachers are to select a winner from their class and that student reports to the office to receive a prize from our Office Teacher, Mr. Sandifer. In addition to this, each week a selected grade level receives a special treat from our cafeteria staff.
In our Perfect Attendance program, students are rewarded monthly, quarterly and yearly. Students that have perfect attendance for the month will receive a certificate along with a dog tag to put on their back pack zipper. Classrooms (per grade level with the highest attendance % each month will eat at a specially decorated table during their lunch times. They also will fly the attendance flag outside of their classrooms for the month. Classrooms (per grade level) will also be given a “popcorn party” for having the highest attendance for the month.
As the weather warms up we will begin to have the “No Referral Ice Cream party”. At the end of each month teachers will be given a list of students who have referrals in their classroom. All students NOT on that list may go to their recess 5 minutes early and are given an ice cream. Students with referrals remain in the classroom with the teacher until the recess bell rings to begin recess.
