Julie Short   Program Specialist

The office of the program specialist is located in the IMC (Instructional Materials Center), adjacent to the Sierra library.  Numerous responsibilities are imbedded in the duties of the program specialist.  The most significant service is to provide resource assistance to students, staff, and the principal.  Handling the various budgets from state and federal sources (specially funded) provides opportunities to best meet student needs.  The selection and implementation of the Sierra School Site Council, which assists and oversees the budgets in addition to establishing a judiciary system for much of Sierra's functioning.

New accountability systems in the state have generated a precise and effective plan at Sierra to assess student performance using the SAT 9 & SABE/2 state-mandated tests, benchmark tests and student portfolios.  Sierra has plans to provide effective content and performance based standards within its accountability system.
