Mr. Smith's (AKA Grandpa)
Sierra Middle School provides an excellent setting for this special class. The staff and students are friendly and helpful. Many opportunities, both formal and informal, are available to provide interaction with the entire student population. We work closely with the parents of our students to provide a consistent learning environment at school and in the home. The support services offered by the special education department of the school district are responsive to our needs. We are proud of the tremendous growth shown by the students during their stay at Sierra.

Special Day/RSP

Ms. Banning My responsiblities are language arts and science for 7th and 8th grade special day/RSP students.

Mr. Blize's language arts classes will be preparing for the reading and spelling benchmarks for grades seven and eight. Each week students work on ten spelling words from the 1,200 most used spelling word list. They will be working on a word recognition program, which has fifty lists of flashcards with twenty-five words. In addition, students are completing various writing assignments, focusing on writing structure and handwriting.

Mr. Koerner Hello, I am responsible for teaching 7th and 8th grade special day/RSP students math and social studies. For math, my students are drilled on their multiplication tables on a biweekly basis. Along with that, many of my students are learning how to multiply decimals, adding and subtracting decimals, basic division, exponents, and the order of operations. In social studies the 8th graders are studying American history and the 7th graders are responsible for world history.

Mr. Penegor I am the 6th grade special day/RSP teacher. I am teaching all of the core subjects for the 6th graders in my class. I am also responsible for two 7th and 8th grade language arts classes.
