DISCLOSURE DOCUMENT
Ms. Susie Terry, 7th Grade Stragegic and Benchmark Mathematics
Walter Stiern Middle School, Room 509
My job is to teach mathematics effectively in a safe classroom. The student’s job is to actively participate in the learning process in such a way that ALL students in the class are able to learn. In order to accomplish these goals, the STIERN RULES will be observed in my classroom:
If classroom consequences do not effectively extinguish classroom disruptions, students will be referred for school discipline consequences. It is anticipated that these will be rare occurrences.
DAILY ROUTINE:
CORRECT HOMEWORK: Be on time; take out and correct your homework immediately. Do this carefully so that you will be ready for the homework quiz at the end of the week.
DAILY WARM-UP: Do the daily warm-up on the Warm-Up Sheet. Work in pencil and show all work. The daily warm-up prepares you for chapter tests, quarterly tests and the CST.
LESSON: Listen carefully while the lesson is being presented. Ask and answer appropriate questions.
GUIDED PRACTICE: Stay with Ms. Terry while she is showing you how to work out the assigned problems. Work in pencil and show all work.
HOMEWORK: Finish the assigned problems at home.
HOMEWORK QUIZ (usually on Fridays): The homework quiz will consist of about 6 problems from the week’s assignments. If you have finished and corrected your homework each day, you will be able to get all of the problems correct on the homework quiz.
GRADING POLICIES:
50% Classwork/Homework: Students will receive a Math Week cover sheet each week with the week’s assignments.
50% Tests: Students take a district test at the end of each chapter, and a district assessment in the Fall, Winter and Spring. The teacher will guide students through a practice test before each chapter test and district assessment.
0% Informational Only: Each student will have scores on their grade printout that are NOT averaged into their class grade; SIXTH GRADE DATA is the score that your child received on his 6th grade CST. When the second trimester begins, the first trimester’s tests will remain on the printout as SEVENTH GRADE DATA and will not be averaged into the current trimester’s grades. Students will receive rewards for beating their sixth grade scores.
