SECTION IV -- TECHNICAL SUPPORT

The Classified Site Network Support Technician (CSNST) is responsible for maintenance of the school computer LAN.  With a school of our size and with the amount of technology increasing every year, it was necessary to employ a part time library computer technician to help the CSNST keep repair times to acceptable levels.  If teachers have any equipment problems, they e-mail the CSNST describing their problem.  The CSNST has a record of the date and time of the problem and is able to help the teachers in a timely manner.  The information obtained in the emails is saved and used to track problems and solutions and to see if there are any long-term problems that can be avoided with proper purchasing. In-services on troubleshooting specific problems such as printing and computer freezing are done with the staff periodically.

In the rare instance that a problem cannot be repaired by site personnel, a call is made to IT.  A district technician is then sent out if the problem is an emergency or scheduled later if the problem can wait.  A log is also kept of questions that site personnel might have for the district technician when they are on site.

The site Technology Coordinator, the Classified Site Network Support Technician, and the Technology Committee work together on plans for future upgrades and additions at the school site.
