FAFSA Instructions
Students applying for federal student aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The most important advice we can give about completing the FAFSA is to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The instructions included with the application explain how each question is to be answered. Because the instructions cannot address every possible family situation, in this document we will discuss the purpose of the FAFSA questions and discuss how information should be reported in some unusual cases.
California Student Aid Commission
During the past four decades the California Student Aid Commission has provided financial aid for more than two generations of students to help them with the costs of higher education. The equivalent of nearly one-in-eleven Californians has benefited directly from its college assistance programs. The Commission guaranteed over $1.8 billion in student loans for the 1994-95 academic year, an overall volume increase of 10.4 percent over the prior year.
