|
The Walter Stiern Middle School library media center has an ever-expanding fiction and nonfiction section that provides materials for both recreational reading and curriculum supplementation, written in English and Spanish. A large reference section provides a variety of resources that are continually updated in all areas. CORE novels and supplemental materials are available for checkout by teachers. Textbooks can be checked out overnight to students. A parent section contains materials on parenting skills and tips on living with a middle school student. All materials are accessed throughout the school using the Spectrum Electronic card catalog. There are 23 computers on the school network available for student use with a digital camera, flex cam, and full page scanner. Copies of materials needed for an assignment are free to students. Cable TV is available through a local satellite company which is broadcast throughout the school over our video distribution system. Videos and videodisks can also be broadcast on this system. |
